Mobile Education for Learning: Advantages and Challenges on Undergraduate Students’ Usage in Tertiary Institutions

The study was conducted to investigate mobile learning for education: benefits and challenges on undergraduate students’ usage in tertiary institutions. The population of the study comprises of 154 year three students from the department of Library and Information Science, Rivers State University and 267 year three students from the department of curriculum and Instructional Technology, Faculty of Education, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A case of150 students was utilised in the research. Simple Random stratified sampling technique was used for the research. The Instrument used to collect data from respondents is a structured questionnaire titled mobile learning for education: benefits and challenges in undergraduate students’ usage in tertiary institution (MLEBCUSUTI) with 35 items. Face and content validity was used as the study and reliability coefficient of 0.67 was gotten. Mean scores and z test were the statistical tools used for the investigation. The study found that mobile learning help students learn anywhere, anytime leading to better course completion and to be ownership of their own learning. Based on these finding the researchers recommended that students should explore new topics and improve their comprehension of complex ideas through the use of technology inside or outside classroom.
