Immersive learning as a strategy for teaching and learning of computer science in Rivers State Primary Schools

Abstract

Immersive learning is an artificially created environment containing scenery and items that give the user the impression they are actually there. The study is a descriptive survey research that aims to look at immersive education asa method of instruction and learning in computer science in primary schools in Rivers State. Norwegian International School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, and Greenoak International School in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, are the study's focus areas. Ten computer science instructors from Norway International School and fifteen from Greenoak International School make up the study's population. The study included 20 teachers as its sample. Using a simple random sampling procedure, candidates were chosen. A structured questionnaire with 28 items, termed using immersive learning a Strategy for Teaching and Learning of Computer Science in Rivers State Primary School (ILSTLCSRSPS), was utilized in the study to gather data from respondents. The reliability co-efficient was 0.62. The statistical methods employed for the investigation were the mean score and the t test. According to the study, immersive learning fosters an interactive atmosphere where students can personalize their computer science practical experience. It was advised that teachers link course material to school activities, workshops, and events in light of the findings.
