Abstract
View PDFWhile both the financial services and healthcare sectors are undergoing similar transformations via digitization, they also have a shared collection of three major challenges are the management of sensitive data in compliance with numerous regulations (PCI, HIPAA), the control of rapidly increasing costs for cloud-based infrastructures, and the extraction of real-time insight from disparate data sources. This article will describe a common architectural framework that incorporates ML-based scheduling, event-driven architecture (EDA), microservices and multi-cloud cost optimization solutions to simultaneously solve these three problems. Case studies from cloud migration in banking and the analytics of healthcare claims will be used to illustrate a hybrid batch-stream processing approach that can achieve a 20-30% reduction in total cost of ownership while simultaneously enabling sub-second risk detection. The architectural capabilities will be validated by a comparative analysis of traditional ETL pipeline implementation versus EDA-based microservices, with results measured across four performance benchmarks: latency, throughput, cost and compliance. In addition, the architecture will address PCI compliance through various data enrichment patterns to sustain the data encryption boundary and will also provide a representative use case for pattern detection in insurance claims processing; our results indicate that companies using this unified architectural approach will see measurable improvements in both operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
